  1. Thank you for this profound, gripping description of your friend, the loss of her son, and how such deaths are regarded in Israel. As a person who does not live in Israel but who cares deeply for its welfare, I saw this description as a truly "inside" view that expanded my understanding. As a side note, Esther is one of my favorite Bible characters...in her story, there was a man who wanted to eradicate the Jews. It seems that times haven't changed much since then. Her courage in approaching the king and speaking up for the safety of her people is still present in the courage you describe in Israel today. (From Pat Fulton)
